Finesse All-Ceramic

Since its introduction, the all-ceramic restoration has been gaining ground on the porcelain-to-metal restoration. Because of its many benefits, the pressed-core type crown has become the leader in this field. Compared to the old refractory-built crowns and the porcelain-fired to platinum foil crowns, the newest generation of pressed ceramics is, by far, the most exciting thing to hit dentistry since the phrase "spit."

Finesse A1l-Ceramic is now the latest to enter this race for the most superior pressable system. With the popularity of Empress and Optimal Pressable Ceramics, Ceramco knew that the wave

of the future was the field of bonded all-ceramic restorations. So they set out to one-up the other companies by first releasing the now popular Finesse low-fusingporcelain, which has a low wear factor on opposing dentition. Their next step was to incorporate this superior porcelain into the new Finesse A1l-Ceramic.

While Empress has a legitimate claim that their crown has a wear-rate equal to that of natural dentition, Finesse now boasts of a wear-rate that is even lower. Due to the low firing cycle of Finesse, the leucite concentration is lessened. Leucite is the element in dental ceramics that causes the grinding damage in opposing dentition. Finesse porcelain, having fewer and finer leucite crystals than a traditional, high fusing porcelain, contributes to less wear or damage while grinding on opposing dentition.
